Sheet Metal and Insulation Calculator
Calculates sheet weight, coil length, pipe insulation and aluminium cladding.
Pack m² fills in automatically when you pick a thickness.
The cut width is the width of the sheet strip that wraps the pipe. Measuring with a strip of the same thickness around the pipe gives π × (diameter + thickness), which is the most accurate result in practice. m² = cut width (m) × pipe length (m). A waste allowance is added to the total. The pack count is the total area divided by the pack m², rounded up; how the strips are laid out on the sheet and the losses at elbows, valves and flanges must be assessed separately.
The cut width is the circumference of the insulated pipe with the aluminium thickness added: π × (pipe outer diameter + 2 × insulation thickness + sheet thickness). Overlap is the joint allowance; 30–50 mm is typical in practice. m² = cut width (m) × pipe length (m); weight = m² × sheet thickness (mm) × density (2.72 for aluminium). A waste allowance is added to the total. Elbows, tees, valves and flanges must be assessed separately. The real weight per m² of embossed sheet can differ slightly by manufacturer; adjust the density field if needed.
